Riquewihr

A remarkably well-preserved medieval wine town, Riquewihr is listed among the Plus Beaux Villages de France, at the foot of the Riesling vineyards.

Getting there

By car via the Alsace Wine Route; by train to Colmar or Sélestat station, then coach.

History

Protected by its 13th-century ramparts and its belfry, the Dolder (1291), the town has come through the centuries with its Renaissance face intact.

Culture & stories

Half-timbered houses, tasting cellars and small museums; the village is especially magical at Christmas.
