Known as the “cradle of champagne”, Hautvillers is a charming wine village in the Marne Valley, famous for its abbey where the monk Dom Pérignon worked.

By car from Épernay (about 10 min). By train: Épernay station, then by road.
History
At the Abbey of Saint-Pierre, Dom Pérignon, cellar master at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, helped shape the wines of Champagne. He is buried here.
