Château du Pailly

The Château du Pailly is one of the finest Renaissance châteaux in Champagne, remodelled in the 16th century by Marshal Gaspard de Saulx-Tavannes.

By car: Le Pailly, around ten kilometres south-east of Langres.

History

Built on the site of a medieval fortress, it retains its moats, tower and ornate living quarters, testimony to the refinement of the French Renaissance.
