Troyes Cathedral (Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul)
A masterpiece of Champagne Gothic, Troyes Cathedral (Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul) dazzles with its immense stained-glass windows – from the 13th to the 16th century – which have earned the town the title of “holy city of stained glass”.
Getting there
By train: Troyes station, a 15-minute walk away, in the heart of the historic town.
History
Its construction stretched from the 13th to the 17th century; the Flamboyant façade and the Saint-Pierre tower date from the 16th. Only one of the two planned towers was ever completed.
Culture & stories
Stained-glass windows, the great west rose and the treasury (enamels, manuscripts) make the building a high point of the art of stained glass.
