Villa Majorelle
The first house in France designed entirely in the Art Nouveau style, the Villa Majorelle is a manifesto of the École de Nancy and was the home of cabinetmaker Louis Majorelle.
Getting there
By train: Nancy-Ville station, a 10-minute walk away. Booking ahead is recommended.
History
Built in 1901–1902 by the architect Henri Sauvage, it brings together the best of Nancy's craftsmen — ironwork, stained glass, ceramics. Fully restored, it reopened to the public in 2020.
Culture & stories
Plant-inspired lines, stained glass by Jacques Gruber and furniture by Majorelle combine into a total Art Nouveau ensemble.
