Château du Hohlandsbourg

Perched above Colmar, the Château du Hohlandsbourg offers an exceptional panorama over the Alsace plain, the Black Forest and the Alps, on the Route des Cinq Châteaux (Five Castles Route).

Getting there

By car from Wintzenheim/Colmar (about 20 min, parking at the foot). Combine with the neighbouring villages of Eguisheim and Turckheim.

History

Built from 1279 onwards and then remodelled in the Renaissance to withstand artillery, it was ruined during the Thirty Years' War before being restored and opened to the public.
