Fleckenstein Castle

In the heart of the Northern Vosges forests, the Château de Fleckenstein raises its spectacular ruins on a sandstone rock some fifty metres long, very close to the German border.

Getting there

By car from Lembach (about 10 min, parking at the foot). Combine with a hike in the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park.

History

First mentioned in the 12th century, this semi-troglodytic castle of the lords of Fleckenstein was destroyed by French troops in 1680.

Culture & stories

Rock-cut rooms, staircases and lookouts can be visited. The “P'tit Fleck” adventure trail and the animated castle are a hit with families.
