Nideck Waterfall

Nestled in a beech forest, the Nideck Waterfall tumbles some twenty metres at the foot of the ruins of Nideck Castle, in a protected natural site near Oberhaslach.

Getting there

By car to the Nideck car park (road from Oberhaslach), then about a 30-minute walk through the forest. Walking shoes recommended.

History

The neighbouring Nideck ruins, castles from the 13th and 14th centuries, inspired a legend taken up by the Brothers Grimm: that of the Giant of Nideck.

Culture & stories

A path leads to the viewpoint and then to the foot of the falls; the walk continues towards the Nideck castles.
