Lac de la Forêt d’Orient

At the heart of the Forêt d'Orient Regional Nature Park, Lac d'Orient (23 km²) is a vast lake devoted to swimming, sailing and birdwatching.

Getting there

By car: east of Troyes (~30 min), with access via Mesnil-Saint-Père or Géraudot.

History

Brought into service in 1966 to regulate the Seine, it forms, together with Lac Amance and Lac du Temple, one of the largest groups of artificial lakes in France.

Culture & stories

Lifeguarded beaches, a marina, trails and a bird reserve (cranes, storks) mark the seasons; the Forêt d'Orient wildlife park is nearby.
