Chaumont
Capital of the Haute-Marne, Chaumont is famous for its spectacular three-tiered railway viaduct (1857), 600 m long, which spans the Suize valley.

By train: Chaumont station. By car: A5 then N67.
History
Once a residence of the Counts of Champagne, the town retains a keep, stair turrets and the Basilica of Saint-Jean-Baptiste.
Culture & stories
A UNESCO Creative City for graphic design, Chaumont is home to Le Signe (the national centre for graphic design) and its Poster Biennale.
