Montmédy
Dominated by its citadel, Montmédy is made up of a lively lower town and a fortified upper town, encircled by ramparts reworked by Vauban, with sweeping panoramic views.
Getting there
By car: in the north of the département, near the Belgian border (D643).
History
A Spanish stronghold that became French after 1657, the citadel retains a complete rampart walk and an interpretation trail.
