Château de La Motte-Tilly

On the banks of the Seine, the Château de La Motte-Tilly displays elegant 18th-century architecture, fully furnished and surrounded by a French formal garden.

Getting there

By car: La Motte-Tilly, near Nogent-sur-Seine, in the west of the Aube.

History

Built around 1754 for Abbé Terray, later Controller-General of Finances under Louis XV, it has kept its period décor and furniture, bequeathed to the State.

Culture & stories

State rooms, park, reflecting pool and fine vistas; the château belongs to the Centre des monuments nationaux.
