Skiing at La Bresse

The biggest resort in the Vosges: downhill skiing, snowboarding and sledging on the slopes of La Bresse-Hohneck.

Overview

Facing the Hohneck, the La Bresse-Hohneck ski area stretches along the Vologne valley, a few kilometres from the town. Across some 220 hectares, the pistes wind between fir trees and lakes, up to the area's highest point at 1,350 metres. Beginners have a dedicated area equipped with magic carpets. More confident skiers can choose from plenty of blue and red runs, plus one black.

What sets the resort apart is its extended hours. On certain days, eight floodlit pistes let you click into your skis from 06:00 and keep going until 21:45. Skiing at first light or under the floodlights shows the mountain in a different light – calmer and more intimate. Away from the slopes, the Schlitte Mountain alpine coaster, snow tubing and sledging evenings keep young and old busy. Non-skiers can also ride the Vologne Express chairlift, then follow a snowshoe or walking trail to the Schmargult chaume (high mountain pasture).

Frequently asked questions

Where is the La Bresse ski area and how do I get there?

The La Bresse-Hohneck ski area is on the Route de Vologne, about 9 kilometres from the centre of La Bresse. Most people get there by car, which should be equipped for driving on snow. In winter, snow shuttle buses also link some railway stations to the main resorts of the Vosges mountains.

When can you ski early in the morning or in the evening at La Bresse?

Eight pistes are floodlit, so you can ski from 06:00 to 21:45 during the dawn (“Aurore”) and night sessions. These slots follow a calendar published each season by the operator and don't apply to every opening day. Check it before you go.

Is La Bresse good for beginners and children?

Yes. A beginners' area with magic carpets and its own lift pass lets newcomers learn gently, and there are plenty of green and blue runs. The alpine coaster, snow tubing and sledging evenings round off the day. The La Bresse Hautes Vosges destination holds the Famille Plus family-friendly label.

How much is a lift pass at La Bresse?

The price depends on duration, age and when you buy. There are pre-sale discounts, family deals and online-only promotions. For exact prices for the 2026-2027 season, see the resort's online ticket office, which details all the options.

Information checked in October 2026. Opening hours, prices and conditions may change: check the official website before you travel.
