Château des Ducs de Lorraine (Sierck)

Once a residence of the Dukes of Lorraine, the Château de Sierck looks down over a bend in the Moselle from its rock — one of the oldest fortified castles in the region.

Getting there

By car: Sierck-les-Bains, in the far north of the Moselle. Sierck-les-Bains station nearby.

History

First mentioned in the 11th century, then enlarged and fortified over the centuries, it retains ramparts, towers and bastions as well as underground levels.

The wall walk offers a plunging view over the Moselle Valley and its vine-covered slopes.
